Fairy donates £50,000

As you may remember last Christmas we held our first national Fairy Dishes For Wishes Walk. Our aim was to raise as much money as we could for Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK, a charity that grants the wishes of children aged 3 to 18 living with life threatening illnesses.

The Fairy walks took place in Edinburgh, Birmingham Belfast and London. Fairy donated £1 for every registered walker. You'll be glad to know we raised £50,000 for Make-A-Wish Foundation ® UK; money that will help children throughout 2005.

Craig joins the boys in blue for the day. Seven year old Craig Jenkins from Norwich, who lives with Leighs Disease, wanted to be a policeman for a day with the Norfolk Constabulary.

So on a Tuesday morning a squad car arrived at Craig's house and whisked him, his mum Jane and grandmother Barbara Tyler off 'to work'. It was just the start of Craig's enthralling day. He toured the police station, sat in the police helicopter, inspected the squad cars, tried the motorbikes for size and saw them do a tour around the car park with sirens and lights going. He even tried handcuffs on the policemen and watched dog handlers put their animals through their paces.

All day Craig told the policemen that he wanted to catch a robber. At the end of the day when he was in one of the police cars, one of the volunteers dressed up as a robber, and the police put a message over the car radio with a description of the chap. Obviously Craig caught one robber and handcuffed him. When the policeman said that they needed to hand him over to the authorities Craig said that he was the one that saw him so he should take him to the desk.

The whole day was topped-off when he met Robert Green his favourite Norwich FC footballer along with his team mates Gary Holt, Mathias Svensson and Steve Foley.

Says mum, Jane, "We had a wonderful day being looked after by the police and it was fascinating to learn first hand what their working days consist of. Craig thoroughly enjoyed himself and we are grateful to Norfolk Constabulary for such a brilliant time."
